How affiliate marketing works here

Affiliates promote products and services with special tracked links. When someone clicks your link and later books or buys (within the cookie window), you can earn a commission. Businesses list offers; promoters share them. You only get paid when results are delivered.

1. The simple idea

Promoters / creators

Recommend programmes you trust (insurance, hire, tyres, parts, garages…). Share tracked links on YouTube, social, blogs, or WhatsApp and earn commission on qualifying referrals.

Businesses / merchants

List products or services with a commission rate and cookie window. Affiliates promote them for you — like having a sales team that is paid only after they deliver customers.

2. Tracking: links + cookies

You generate a link in the hub (or vertical promo tools). Example shape: /ref/YOURCODE?url=… or short /r/abc123.
Someone clicks from your video, post, or site.
We store a cookie with your affiliate code (httpOnly). Default window is about 30 days (offers can set their own).
They don’t have to buy instantly — if they return and complete a purchase/booking while the cookie is valid, credit can still go to you.
Conversion is recorded from trusted checkout/webhooks (or verified order references) — not from self-reported clicks alone.

This matches standard affiliate practice (unique link → cookie → delayed purchase still attributed), similar to how beginner affiliate courses and major networks explain attribution.

3. Commissions & payouts

Rates vary by programme — % of sale, fixed per lead, or per booking. Always check the offer card.
Pending / estimated — recent conversions waiting for validation (returns, cancellations, fraud checks).
Available / approved — cleared for payout once the lock-in / review period passes.
Paid — after you request a payout (minimum typically £50) via PayPal, bank, or Wise.

Price your margins carefully if you are a merchant: commissions only work when your profit still covers the affiliate cut (same principle as building a Shopify-style affiliate programme).

4. Promoting on YouTube & social

Creator shopping programmes (for example YouTube Shopping Affiliates) let creators tag products and earn when viewers buy. On CarServices you do the equivalent with tracked links and tagged offers:

Pick an offer from the marketplace
Create your link in Tracked links
Put the link in your video description, pinned comment, Shorts, or landing page
Mention deals clearly (price drops, promo codes) when the merchant provides them

Disclosure is required. Tell your audience when a link is affiliate / sponsored (e.g. “#ad” or “I may earn a commission”). This builds trust and follows advertising rules on YouTube and other platforms.
